Tasks and solutions
Below is a list of the most frequently encountered tasks when performing various works in water areas and possible solutions for their implementation.
Search for objects
o perform a search (search work, search and rescue operations) it is necessary:
- to detect and identify an object (group of objects) in a given polygon
- to determine the parameters of the object and its condition
- to determine the parameters of the water area and the bottom in the place of object detection for further access to the object, the possibility of its lifting
The following directions can be identified in the search tasks:
1) by the location of the search object:
- at the bottom and in the water column
- in the bottom and bottom sediments
2) according to the method of work:
- from a mobile carrier (boat)
- from a fixed carrier or when working from ice through a hole
Object of study: various objects, sunken or submerged, of natural or artificial origin
Location: bottom surface, water column (submerged object)
Technology: side-scanning sonar, the sonar circular scan (Search for objects)
Инструмент: SSS, CSS (circular scan sonar) (Search complexes)
Method of execution: from a mobile carrier (boat), from a fixed carrier or when working from the ice through the hole
Result: detection and identification of the object; coordinates and dimensions of the object, distance measurement; depth at the site of object detection; the nature of the bottom relief and its type at the site of object detection; acoustic image of the object; acoustic mosaic of the polygon site with the object; object map
Object of study: various objects, sunken or submerged, of natural or artificial origin
Location: in the bottom and bottom sediments
Technology: profiling (Bottom profiling)
Tool: PPF (Bottom profilers)
Method of execution: from a mobile carrier (boat)
Result: detection and identification of the object; coordinates and dimensions of the object; depth at the site of detection of the object; the nature of the bottom relief and its type at the site of detection of the object
Diving support
The following directions can be defined in diving support tasks (tools used):
- search for objects (SSS, CSS)
- mapping of the dive sites (SSS)
- depth determination at the dive site (SSS, CSS)
- assessment of the topography and condition of the bottom at the dive site (SSS, CSS)
- tracking the position of drivers (CSS - circular scan sonar)
- guidance the diver to a given point (CSS)
NOTICE. To work in the winter, it is possible to use CSS when working from the ice, through an ice hole.

- determination of the depth at the object detection location (SSS, CSS, PPF)
- assessment of topography and bottom condition (SSS, CSS, PPF)
- tracking the position of drivers (CSS)
- guidance the diver to a given point (CSS)
NOTICE. To work in the winter, it is possible to use CSS when working from the ice, through an ice hole.
