Interferometric side-scan sonar (ISSS)

Interferometric side-scan sonar (ISSS) is one of the most effective means of performing  measurement and hydrographic works by swath method (phase swath bathymtery). The ISSS is an extension of the side-scan sonar with measuring echo-sounder (SSSE), to which separate phase receiving channels have been added.

ISSS can perform all functions of SSSE and additionally receive depth data in the swath of capture  up to 6 depths (due to special data processing). Compared to multibeam sounders (MES), ISSS contains a much smaller number of channels (7 vs. tens and hundreds of MES), which greatly simplifies the equipment and reduces its cost without compromising quality.

The assortment of models performing the ISSS functions is presented in the Hydra™ series of sonar complexes. ISSS is designed for visual high-quality investigation (shooting) of the bottom surface and water column, drawing of bathymetry in various waters with the possibility of archiving, subsequent reproduction, analysis and processing of the information received.
The Hydra  ISSS series are mobile, compact and lightweight devices that allow you to perform a wide range of tasks. Mobility allows you to freely move the complex from one ship to another, to transport it by any means of transport. Stationary accommodation of the complex is also possible. Due to its small size and weight, ISSS can be placed on all types of vessels-from small (inflatable boats) to large displacement vessels.  

ISSS models are available in the Hydra™ series for specialized professional applications.
The use of modern technologies allows you to shoot the water area, getting an acoustic" photo " of the bottom in high digital quality and measure the depth with high accuracy. Shooting data are recorded without loss of quality with the possibility of further playback and processing. Any IBM PC compatible computer with the Windows operating system can be used to work with ISSS.
Mobility, high data quality and ease of use are the main advantages of ISSS of the Hydra™ series .

Supported functionality of ISSS of the Hydra™ series:

  • Acquisition of acoustic image (AI) f the bottom and water column in swath capture  of the image up to 10 depths on each side; the total capture swath - up to 20 deep (on both sides)
  • Depth determination under the ship by AI - visual and automatic (by software)
  • Determination of vessel coordinates (if there is a built-in navigation receiver)
  • Determination of object coordinates on AI (if there is a built-in navigation receiver)
  • Determination of the distance to the object on the AI (if there is a built-in navigation receiver)
  • Determination of the distance between objects on the AI (if there is a built-in navigation receiver)
  • Determination of the dimensions of the object on the AI (if there is a built-in navigation receiver)
  • Determining the height of an object above the bottom by its shadow on AI

  • Recording/playback of recorded data
  • Convertion of recorded data to various output formats
